Many…MANY of you just hated the 2010 Acura redux. Fear not – your 2012 model is receiving a new grille. After so much negative commenting about the last front end upgrade to Acura’s TL, the Honda-owned auto maker went back to its design board, and came up with something better suited to their driver’s needs.

“The 2012 Acura TL is refined, yet aggressive,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “Already known for its great performance, the enhanced TL has a sophisticated new look and an all-new six-speed automatic transmission that will take performance to the next level.”

“The 2012 TL’s refined new look includes a redesigned front bumper with improved aerodynamics, a revised grille, updated headlights and turn signals, a new fog light design and a shorter front overhang. At the rear, a new rear bumper incorporates a significantly repositioned license plate opening and smaller rear reflectors, while updated taillights and a thinner rear trunk edge trim add to a sophisticated new look.”

Acura’s new transmission allows double downshifts (two gears at a time) while also implementing a drive-by-wire electronic throttle system, which matches gear speeds while downshifting.

These changes result in a fuel economy boost of 20 mpg city, 29 highway. For the record, it’s an increase of 3 mpg over the 2011 TL, with the car’s 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine. The base TL comes with a 280-horsepower, front-wheel-drive version. Then there’s a 305-horsepower all-wheel-drive variant.

“It seems that Acura has heard the complaints.” This, according to Kickingtires.com. “It [Acura] will debut a “refined” TL at the Chicago Auto Show’s media days on Feb. 9. In terms of performance and the interior, we expect most of the car to remain similar to the current model shown above.”

After several months of teasing, we finally have official photos of the Acura TSX Sport Wagon, minus the Honda tag. First off, yes it does have that oddly bulky front grill made famous by recently introduced Acura vehicles. What else can you expect? Well, if you were hoping for a V6 engine or a manual tranny you’re S.O.L. But hey! It has a lot of trunk space and fancy electric blue paint.

As they call it in Europe, the Accord Tourer (rebranded at TSX in North America) will have a 4 cylinder that produces somewhere in the range of 40 MPG combined. Good for touring the kids around in style. Like we mentioned above, TSX Sport Wagon is sporty looking, may not live up to that name under the hood, but you can fit grandma and three dogs in the rear compartment.

For now other details are sketchy, aside from that 2.4-liter gasoline engine and an approximately $30k price tag. At least we have a few real pictures now.

Acura usually borrows many of their vehicle styling from Honda and their Japanese / European design studios. When Acura realized they were in desperate needs of a Coupe Concept, they strayed away from the Japanese auto maker, which probably left some hurt feelings. Instead, they went over and asked Mercedes E-Class scribes Lorinser to give them a two-door roadster, so far the result is this front-grill mash-up “Acura” E-Class.

Lorinser is best known for the tuning kits and body re-styling of Mercedes vehicles, such as the new E-Coupe and the M5. No news on how serious this supposed Acura Coupe really is, but it is time for the once great Integra makers to have a fast two-door again.

Cut backs in Research & Design meant less new models and no huge break throughs in design for many companies, especially in the USA. With nothing to show off or not extra cash to ship vehicles / promotions people halfway around the world, Acura’s booth, along with several others, are left empty.

Many of the cars that did show up include homemade brands – Toyota, Nissan Nd Honda all displaying new hybrids, zero-emissions and electric vehicles during the event. Maybe next year Acura will have a line-up of hybrid vehicles to pimp out.

[nggallery id=1]

The vehicle uses a 3.7-liter V6 VTEC engine pumping out 300-horsepower and up to 270 ft-lbs of torque, and the “Super Handling All-Wheel Drive,” aka SH-AWD, as Acura calls it. Passengers will sit under the large panoramic glass roof, supposedly the largest in class. A 10-speaker surround sound system with 15gb hard drive keeps the tunes audible for everyone. From the 19-inch aluminum wheels, to the MacPherson struts, and the 8-inch video screen. All standard, so far.

The Acura ZDX Concept, which has been kept under wraps since Q4 of last year, was finally revealed at a surprise showing at this month’s New York International Auto Show. This luxury sedan continues the newly adapted designs of Acura vehicles over the past couple of years. But certain aspects are completely new, including the rear end and side angles of ZDX. It looks as though Acura (as many will soon follow in doing) is coming up fast behind Toyota and Honda in aerodynamic sedan design.

“The ZDX is truly a luxury performance coupe – plus,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “The emotional coupe styling coupled with a luxurious and dramatic interior and surprising versatility, allows the ZDX to define its own segment and attract an entirely new customer.”

The ZDX’s sportiness is emphasized by the flowing lines, the sharp roofline, concealed rear door handles and daring fender flares. While the boot is roomy with space for plenty of luggage, its all-glass make is a continuation of the uniqueness of the concept car. Signing off the exterior are 9-spoke 20-inch wheels and dual chrome tailpipes.

The engine is an all-aluminium VTEC V6 coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The production ZDX goes onto dealership floors this fall/ autumn in the US.

All-New Acura ZDX Concept

A prototype of the provocative Acura ZDX luxury four-door sports coupemade its world debut at the New York International Auto Show today. The production version of the dramatically styled prototype goes on-sale in the fall of 2009. The segment bending ZDX features stunning coupe-like styling with the added benefit of a commanding presence and flexible utility.

The ZDX is designed to break new ground for Acura in the areas of provocative styling, contemporary luxury and meticulous refinement. With its sensuous curves, sharply raked roofline and bold fender flares, the ZDX blurs the distinction between coupe, sedan and sport utility vehicle. Clean, flowing lines start from the headlights and run the length of the car, accentuating the cars presence and grace. In keeping with the coupe-inspired styling, the rear door handles are cleverly concealed in the C-pillar. The all-glass tailgate opens wide to reveal a highly functional cargo space with integrated under-floor storage. The prototype is finished off with stylish dual chrome exhaust outlets and 9-spoke machined wheels fitted with 20-inch Michelin tires.

“From the very first sketch of the ZDX, I wanted to create an emotional vehicle that challenged conventional thinking of what a sports coupe should be,” said Michelle Christensen, ZDX exterior designer. “My goal was to create a strikingly beautiful exterior, and use that attraction to help draw you into the rich interior.”

Inside, the ZDX exudes modern luxury while focusing on pampering the front passengers. The cabin is enveloped in leather, which gives the interior a luxurious and inviting feel. The hand-stitched leather dash and instrument panel sweep down to form a dual cockpit layout, creating a personal and intimate experience for the front seat occupants. The premium leather seats are highly bolstered to support the passengers during sporty driving and at the same time provide comfort during a long getaway. A black monochromatic center stack leads to the textured metallic center console, which complements the black and pearl white leather trim. The thick leather wrapped steering wheel provides ample grip and is framed by racing-inspired paddle shifters for the ultimate in driver control. The cabin is enclosed by a panoramic glass roof which runs the entire length of the vehicle, providing occupants with a breathtaking view of the world around them.

The production ZDX will bring a new level of prestige and sophistication when it arrives at Acura dealerships in the fall, offering the latest advancements in performance, technology and safety. The ZDX will deliver sports sedan performance on the road with its powerful V-6 engine mated to an all-new, smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission. The potent powertrain will be coupled with Acura’s exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel DriveTM (SH-AWD®) system, giving the ZDX outstanding handling and cornering capabilities in all-weather conditions.

In typical Acura fashion, the ZDX will be available with the latest in customer enhancing technologies and advanced safety features including an all-new blind spot information system, which will help drivers change lanes more confidently. A new multi-view rear camera makes parking even easier with the added enhancement of both a wide angle and top down view. Acura signature technologies like Acura Navigation System with Voice RecognitionTM, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic and WeatherTM, Acura/ELS Surround® premium audio system and Bluetooth® connectivity will also be available on the all-new model.

The ZDX represents the next step for Acura in its advancement to becoming one of the top luxury brands and makes a clear statement toward the future of the brand.

The V10 powered vehicle was set to begin production next year, for a 2010 release in the states. The vehicles output ranged around 450 horsepower, with a sleek new design which would have set out to titillate foreign and luxury car fans alike. Honda, hang your head in shame! Below, we pay tribute with an Edmunds Spy Video of the “2011″ (according to Inside Line) Acura NSX:
