Acura NSX May Return After All

With rumors that Honda will bring back the NSX in the form of HSV next year, MORE rumors pop up that Acura’s NSX will be resurrected. That’s right sports fans – Acura’s NSX supercar may rise from the dead. Why? Well Acura needs to run something in the Super GT racing series. This race requires production vehicles to be entered – so Acura will have to work on bringing back the NSX. Honda/Acura’s resurrected sportster will be the perfect ride for such an event.

According to sources at Inside Line & World Car Fans: While details are limited, the race car is expected to be virtually identical to the production NSX that was killed off late last year. However, the NSX racer will reportedly use a 3.4-liter V8 instead of a 5.0-liter V10 which was expected in the production model.

Acura 2+1 Coupe Concept

Colombian designer Leon Paz once interned for the Research and Development department at Honda America, and has now created what may be the future of Acura Design. The Acura 2+1 Concept Coupe is being billed a a sports car for the everyday commuter – sporty, comfortable and futuristic.

The vehicle’s look is unique, combining science fiction with factual automotive technology. It continues the broad front end designs Acura is hoping to turn into their trademark feature well into the 21st Century. The two in one (2+1) seating arrangement is also something we are beginning to see in more coupe concepts, two seats in the front, one passenger in the rear. Le Mans America – Acura’s 2009 Prototype Announced

Belle Isle – Detroit, MI. Over the past weekend, Team Acura placed a historic First – Second – Third finish in Detroit’s highly competitive American Le Mans series. Owning much of the 104 lap race was XM Satellite Radio’s Andretti Green Acura ARX-01b. The # 26 car took advantage of a late caution period to take first and keep this position until Le Man’s checkered flag came down. An additional bragging point for Acura – at every point during the race an Acura vehicle led the pack.

Next season Acura will have two prototype entries for the 2009 American Le Mans season. The new LMP1 ARX-02a is being developed in England with track testing set to start in November. Acura has yet to confirm whether or not Andretti Green Racing, which operates Acura’s current LMP2 racers, would continue with the company next season. Michael Andretti spoke to AutoWeek, saying there was about a “70 percent” chance of the relationship continuing. Hopefully we can expect more Acura-Andretti victories for future Le Man’s series.

Good luck – The automaker keeping their mouths zipped and not looking forward to releasing any spec information; whether it be engine type, fuel capacity or body design. Acura hopes this new Le Mans entry will give quite the marketing boost for 2009′s season. Le Mans is not only one of the most heavily watched racing events in the world, but it also allows car makers to show of their pinnacle automotive technologies, and incorperate them into street legal consumer vehicles.
