Open Wheel Race Champion To Join Acura Race Team
Acura recently announced that they will add an additional car anddriver to their race team for the 2008 American Le Mans Series. The car is an Acura ARX-01b which will be driven by two time Champ Car winner Gil de Ferran. Joining de Ferran will be co driver Simon Pagenaud who is an ex winner of the Cham Car Atlantic competition. de Ferran has experience with Honda powered cars, with both of his Champ Car vehicles being powered by the automaker. Currently de Ferran is preparing to return from his five year hiatus stating: “Obviously getting the team set up has taken a huge amount of my time, but now I am starting to concentrate on becoming a racing driver again. I have been working very hard on my fitness — both physical and mental — to prepare myself to get back behind the wheel.” This season all eyes will certainly be on the open-wheel racing champion, as he returns from retirement to get back behind the wheel of an Acura.
